Hoi An (Chữ Nôm: 會安), formerly known as Fai-Fo or Faifoo, is a city in Vietnam's Quang Nam Province and is noted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. Hoi An preserves many old buildings, such as Phung Hung Old House and Hoi An Central Market.
Phung Hung Old House (Vietnamese: Nhà cổ Phùng Hưng) is one of the largest and most impressive old houses in Hoi An. The house dates back to 1780 and has been occupied by the same family ever since.
Architecturally, Phung Hung Old House fuses the elements of Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese traditional buildings. Consisting of two stories, the house is held up by 80 wooden columns.
Hoi An Central Market (Chợ Hội An) is located at the banks of the Thu Bon River (Sông Thu Bồn), there is an old well in front of the market, but the water is still clear.
There are many food stalls selling local snack inside, but the market is still clean.
The market is an ideal place for buying souvenirs since the goods sold here are cheap and quality, Choumeizai buys some rice papers for cooking Vietnamese food.
The market is busy throughout the day with locals bargaining, so the best time for tourists to visit is early morning.
