Hoi An (Chữ Nôm: 會安), formerly known as Fai-Fo or Faifoo, is a city in Vietnam's Quang Nam Province and is noted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. Japanese Covered Bridge (Vietnamese: Cầu Nhật Bản) is one of the most iconic attractions in Hoi An and Vietnam.
Japanese Covered Bridge is around 18 meters long, it can date back to the 18th century and is a beautiful historical piece of Japanese architecture.
It is claimed that the bridge was created by the Japanese then living in Hoi An as a way to reach the Chinese quarter across the water.
The bridge features the sculptures of two dogs and two monkeys to represent that the building of the bridge began in the year of the dog and was completed in the year of the monkey.
There is a small Buddhist temple behind the bridge, which blesses the sailors and fishermen.
Thu Bồn River (Sông Thu Bồn) is a river in central Vietnam, it flows into the South China Sea at Hoi An and makes Hoi An become one of the major trading ports in Vietnam.
