Grábrók is a small volcanic crater in the north of Borgarfjörður area, the West part of Iceland. Since Grábrók is not far from the Ring Route 1, it becomes one of the most popular tourist attractions in Iceland, also an ideal place for hiking.
Grábrók is about 3400 years old and 170 meters high, tourists can walk to the top of the crater by the wooden stairs.
Grábrók in Icelandic means grey underpants, is one of three tiny old volcanic craters found hereabouts in the West of Iceland.
There is no tall tree around Grábrók, you can enjoy the panoramic view on the way.
It is extremely windy and there is no railing on the top of the crater, so be careful while taking photos.
The whole area is crowded over with old moss-grown lava, splendid but wild. By the way, Grábrók is just an extinct volcanic crater , so you don’t need to worry it will erupt during your visit.
