Hani Rice Terraces (哈尼梯田) are the system of Hani rice-growing terraces located in Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture (紅河哈尼族彝族自治州), Yunnan (雲南) Province, China. Choumeizai is impressed by the beautiful blue of one of the little Hani villages.
Most of the villagers are working on the fields, so there are only a few people in the village, only a doggie gives Choumeizai a welcoming hug.
Next to the square there is an altar hanging with some buffalo bones, this is the place where the villagers pray for bumper harvest.
The surfaces of rice terraces are smooth as mirrors, the reflection of the sky is more beautiful than sapphire.
On the way there is a buffalo, it is massive but very mild, it makes way for Choumeizai when Choumeizai gets close.
There are no other tourists in the village except Choumeizai, so the atmosphere is much more peaceful than the other scenic spots in Hani Rice Terraces.
The total area stretches across 1,000,000 acres and four counties: Yuanyang (元陽), Honghe (紅河), Jinpin (金平) and Lüchun (綠春); the terraces located in Yuanyang County are amongst the most splendid.
Before leaving, Choumeizai buys some local oranges from the little market. The oranges are sweet and juicy, one of the best memories of this lovely village.
