Guangxi Xinwei (Chinese: 關西新圍) is located in Ganzhou (赣州), the south of Jiangxi Province (江西), China. It was built between 1798 to 1827, which is one of the typical Hakka buildings in China.
Guangxi Xinwei looks so clean, it is no longer a residence, but a tourist attraction, the signs for tourists are everywhere.
All sculptures on the screen wall were long gone, while the slogans written in the Cultural Revolution still remain.
Guangxi Xinwei was not only a residence, but also a stronghold, that’s why it looks like a big castle.
The plan of Guangxi Xinwei is quite complete, it even has its own theatre.
You can still find some exquisite wooden carvings inside the houses, not so many but still worth seeing.
Guangxi Xinwei is beautiful without any question, but it makes you feel ‘hollow’ since no one lives here, Choumeizai feels so lonely.
