Buen Retiro Park (Spanish: Parque del Buen Retiro), also simply El Retiro, is located in the city center of Madrid, Spain. Palacio de Cristal, literally ‘Glass Palace’ in English, is one of the most popular scenic spots in Buen Retiro Park.
Palacio de Cristal is in the shape of a Greek cross, made almost entirely of glass set in an iron framework on a brick base, which is decorated with ceramics.
Palacio de Cristal was one of the main venues of the 1887 Philippines Exposition, a colonial exhibition to boost commercial and economic relations between the archipelago of the Philippines and the metropolis.
The structure was designed in a way that would allow it to be re-erected on another site, but it has never moved and remained on the original site since it was erected.
Palacio de Cristal is no longer used as a greenhouse, it currently belongs to the Reina Sofía Museum and used for art exhibits.
On the other side of the lake, you can see the whole Palacio de Cristal and the reflection, a good place to take photos.
