Gili Islands (Indonesian: Tiga Gili) are an archipelago located just off the northwest coast of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Scuba diving around Gilis is common, Choumeizai will introduce Basket Coral, one of the popular diving sites of Gili Islands.
The variety of marine life in Basket Coral is abundant. As soon as Choumeizai falls into the water, he encounters a small black moray and a big squid.
There are two small crabs perching on the coral column, if the dive master hasn’t pointed them out, Choumeizai can't see them at all.
This tiny cerulean moray is very colorful and vibrant, bringing a lively vibe to this grayish reef.
The baby lobster is very shy and only shows two thick tentacles, so the diving instructor pulls it out.
The lionfish has a beautiful appearance but its fins are poisonous, so be careful not to swim too close.
The coral reef near the shore is pale, Choumeizai estimates that it has suffered serious damage caused by human activities.
