Shortly after climbing the mountain is the site of the former squatters. After World War II and the Chinese Civil War, many people who fled to Hong Kong from Mainland China lived in squatters beneath the Lion Rock.
At first, a section of the mountaineering path was paved with cement and stone, and it was not too steep, so it was very easy to walk.
You will see some monkeys on the way. It is said that these monkeys are very aggressive, and don't expose any food in front of them.
About an hour later, from the entrance of the country park to the Reunion Pavilion (回歸亭), where you can rest for a while and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Lion Rock lies between Kowloon and the New Territories, it is one of the most famous landmarks of Hong Kong.
After the Reunion Pavilion, the path becomes very steep and there are no steps, so be careful while going up the mountain.
The peak of Lion Rock consists of granite covered sparsely by shrub, and is estimated to be around 140 million years old.
