Karuizawa (軽井沢) has been the summer resort of foreigners before, so it has strong exotic atmosphere, Choumeizai doesn’t expect he can eat a delicious French cruise, while the price is also reasonable.
The restaurant looks like a wooden lodge in Europe, the shop front is quite small and not so eye-catching, but the decoration is exquisite and lovely.
The menu is in English, the female owner can speak simple English, even the foreigners who don’t know Japanese, they can still order without any problem.
The restaurant sells French cuisines only, one pasta costs around 1500 yen, seat meal costs 3000 yen, which includes appetizer, soup and dessert, Choumeizai orders set meal of course.
The appetizer is crab meat salad which has so many crab meat in it, mouthful of savor, the vegetables come from the local farms, it has lotus roots and Japanese kales, full of the natural fragrance.
The bread comes from their own bakery, springy and full of the flavor of wheat, very tasty even without butter.
Potato soup looks normal, fragrant, smooth and unexpectedly tasty.
One of the main dishes is fish fillet, boneless without any smell of ice, savory and refreshing.
Another main dish is stewed gigot, the meat is soft and tender, the taste is very rich but not gamy, and makes you feel like heaven.
Gigot is boneless, the chef even picks out the bone marrow and tendons of the gigot deliberately, so the customer can enjoy every part of the gigot, fully satisfied.
The dessert is assorted cakes with homemade lemon sorbet, not so impressive but still delicious, marks a perfect ending for this meal. 3000 yen for French cuisine with such excellent quality, it is absolutely a good value for money, highly recommended by Choumeizai.
Just a reminder, this restaurant opens on 11 in the morning and closes on 3 in the afternoon, then opens again on 5 in the evening.
