Four Four South Village (Chinese: 四四南村) is located in Xinyi District (信義區), Taipei City (台北市), Taiwan. The village is the first military dependents village (眷村) built by the government of the Republic of China after it moved to Taiwan.
Four Four South Village was built in 1948, most of the village has been demolished. The village is the first military dependents village that has been preserved.
Similar to the other early military dependents' villages, Four Four South Village is mainly constructed of wood, bamboo fences, lime and tiles.
In the early days of Four Four South Village, there were no running water facilities and toilets. The living space of each household in the village was very small and the lanes between the houses were extremely narrow, the living conditions were extremely poor.
Four Four South Village was demolished due to fire in 1999, at that time it still remained almost the same as it was 50 years ago.
Today Four Four South Village has been partially renovated and is home to model homes from its original use, cultural and creative stores, a restaurant, and occasional arts and crafts markets.
