Dangjia village (Chinese: 党家村) is located in Xizhuang (西莊) Town, northeast of Hancheng (韓城) City, Shaanxi (陝西) Province. It is 9 kilometers away from the southwest of the city area of Hancheng, which is deemed as the ‘living fossil’ of ancient Chinese villages.
Dangjia village was founded in 1331, and widely expanded during the 15th to 19th century.
There are around 300 households in Dangjia village, most of the villagers surnamed Dang (党) or Jia (賈).
Dangjia village is not so touristy, you can really enjoy the nostalgic aroma in every corner inside the village.
Most of the villagers who live here are elderly, not only the buildings are well preserved, but also the way of life.
There are over 100 courtyard houses, 11 ancestral halls, temples and fort, it takes around 2 hour for sightseeing.
Many buildings are decorated by exquisite lintel, wood carving and brick carving, but before you get in some buildings, make sure there is no one living there.
