Yumoto(湯元) lies deep inside the mountains of Nikko(日光), is the part of Nikko where not so crowded and touristy. Yumoto doesn’t have any luxurious hotel but many cute little guesthouses, Choumeizai has lived in one of them and would like to share a beautiful experience with you guys.
The appearance of the guesthouse is unadorned and traditional, the guesthouse is not big which has less than 20 rooms, it is not luxurious but the decoration is warm and cozy, and feels like home.
Choumeizai lives in one of the Japanese style rooms, the room is not big, the decoration is simple but refreshing, so comfortable.
Even though the guesthouse is deep inside the mountains, the dinner is still delicious, especially their Date(伊達) chicken, the chicken meat is very tender, since the chicken is steamed, it preserves the genuine taste of chicken.
The trout freshly comes from the nearby river, which is so tasty and springy, even if barbecue by salt solely is already delicious.
There are six private onsen(hot springs) for the guests living here, it becomes your private world after you lock the door, great!
The temperature of the water is quite high, you can adjust the temperature by the cold water tap, or else you will be cooked as an onsen egg.
There is a fridge in the corridor with free chocolate and milk popsicles inside, you can have some cold sweeteners after a hot bath, very considerate.
Yumoto onsen gensen is very close to the guesthouse, it is the source of the hot springs in Nikko which is worth visiting.
In addition, the main entrance of the guesthouse is guarded by a doggy named ‘Black bear’, she looks lovely but not so friendly, just don’t mess with her.
