Mei’s Grand Courtyard (Chinese:梅家大院) is located at Taishan (Chinese:台山) of Guangdong Province (Chinese:廣東), China. The courtyard was founded by overseas Chinese in 1931, and it was one of the shooting locations of Chinese movie ‘Let the bullets fly (Chinese:讓子彈飛)’ turning it into a popular tourist destination.
The courtyard has 108 old buildings which are only two to three floors, the buildings have formed a big rectangle, there is a big open space in the middle which serves as a market, the whole courtyard looks like a small square castle.
Since more than half of the owners of the courtyard surnamed Mei(梅), it was named ‘Mei’s Grand Courtyard’.
When the owners designed Mei’s Grand Courtyard, they put the architectural style of the country where they sojourn in the buildings, while some of the elements of Chinese traditions were also preserved, so the buildings look half European and half Chinese.
There are many stalls in the open space of the courtyard selling snacks and local products, looks like a small shopping mall, quite interesting.
Suddenly, Choumeizai thinks of a Hong Kong movie named ‘Kung Fu hustle (Chinese: 功夫)’, Choumeizai misses Hong Kong movie so much.
