Netsu no Yu(熱乃湯) is next to Yubatake(湯畑) of Kusatsu Onsen(草津溫泉), is the performance venue of Yumomi(湯揉), besides watching the show in the auditorium, visitors can also also experience such centennial Japanese tradition by themselves.
Since it is free sitting, the seats are first come first served. Although the ticket booth opens at 3, Choumeizai suggests you guys start lining up at 2:30, it is difficult to get a seat if you are too late.
The auditorium in Netsu no Yu has two levels, the view is better on the upper level, Choumeizai is lucky, he can get a good position even if he is a bit late.
Before the performance starts, the venue will broadcast their theme song, the rhythm is cute but quite brainwashing.
The water temperature of Kusatsu Onsen is very high, so the ancient Japanese would churn the water, cool it down to a suitable temperature for bathing, such an act is called ‘Yubatake’. With the advance of technology, people no longer use Yubatake to cool water down.
All performers are local women, they will sing and dance while they are churning the water, very interesting.
The performance lasts for 1 minutes, then the performers will invite the audience to join them and experience the Yubatake, every participant can get a ‘certificate’ as a souvenir.
