‘Bridge on the River Kwai’ is a bridge located in Changwat Kanchanaburi (Thai: จังหวัดกาญจนบุรี), Thailand. The original name of Bridge on the River Kwai should be ‘Bridge 277’, which is part of the Siam–Burma Railway, now it becomes a popular tourist attraction due to fiction and movie.
The original bridges on the River Kwai were bombed and damaged by bomber aircraft from the Royal Air Force and U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. The bridge we see nowadays is a postwar reconstruction, which spans about 300 meters over the river.
The sun above is ferocious, Choumeizai feels that he is being grilled on the metal rail, how could the prisoners stand such heat during World War II?
The trains will go through the bridge occasionally, but the speed is slow and people can stand on both sides of the rail, so don’t worry. The other side of the bridge is extremely quiet, which arouses the imagination of Choumeizai about the bloody past of this bridge.
The area around the bridge has become a popular tourist attraction, there are plenty of pubs and restaurants built on the riverside, war seems to become an ancient anecdote...Really?
