Iceland is well known for its natural beauty, but unexpectedly, there is a globally unique Phallological Museum in the capital of such a small Arctic country. Besides beautiful scenery, Iceland also has phallus...
Phallus is not something indecent, so children are also welcomed to visit the museum, the admission is 150 Króna per person, quite expensive.
The Icelandic Phallological Museum (Icelandic: Hið íslenzka reðasafn), located in Reykjavík, Iceland, houses the world's largest display of penises and penile parts.
Founded in 1997 by since-then retired teacher Sigurður Hjartarson, the museum grew out of an interest in penises that began during Sigurður's childhood when he was given a cattle whip made from a bull's penis.
The museum is not big, it has only one level but filled with loads of collections, all phalluses of course. The collection of 280 specimens from 93 species of animals includes 55 penises taken from whales, 36 from seals and 118 from land mammals, allegedly including Huldufólk (Icelandic elves) and trolls.
A small exhibition corner lies next to the exit, and the highlight amongst all collections is...human penis.
The museum has its own souvenir shop, selling souvenirs related to phallus, including phallus shaped lollipops, do you want to try?
