Cheung Po Tsai (1786-1822), was a famous pirate during the Jiaqing (嘉慶) period of the Qing (清) Dynasty and was active in the eastern part of the Guangdong (廣東) Province.
The cave is about 10 metres deep and 88 metres long from the entrance to the exit. The inside is dark and narrow, and the ground is slippery and uneven.
There is a Tin Hau Temple (天后廟) near Cheung Po Tsai Cave. The temple is quite old and the environment is comfortable, which is well worth a visit.
Tin Hau Temple is facing the ocean, and the scenery is very beautiful when the weather is clear. There is a pavilion next to the temple, a good place to enjoy the breeze and sea view.
