Mývatn Nature Baths (Icelandic: Jarðböðin við Mývatn) are a set of geothermally heated pools and steam baths found in the Lake Mývatn area, Iceland. The baths are about two kilometres east of the village of Reykjahlíð, and a fantastic example of Iceland’s hot spring culture.
After entering the venue, each visitor will be given a towel, and there is a swimsuit rental service in the venue, so don’t worry even if you haven’t brought your own swimwear.
The Mývatn Nature Baths are centred around a large lagoon, which has a temperature of about 36 to 40 degrees Celsius.
The water here is full of minerals, particularly sulphur, which is said to be good for respiratory and skin problems.
There are also two steam-baths sitting directly on top of churning geothermal waters. The temperature in these steam-baths is close to 50 degrees Celsius.
There is free drinking water supply in the bathing area. If you sweat too much after soaking in the hot spring, you can drink water here.
