Kat O (Chinese: 吉澳) also named Crooked Island, is an island in Northeast Hong Kong. With an area of 2.35 km², Kat O is the closest island to Mainland China in Hong Kong. To visit Kat O, you can take the scheduled ferry operating on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
The boarding location is Ma Liu Shui Landing No. 3, it takes around 15 minutes walk from University Station of MTR East Rail.
There is a makeshift ticket booth right by the landing steps, you can either buy the ticket there or book the tickets by phone one day before.
The ferry departs at 9am, the scenery on the way is excellent, you can see the beautiful coastline of Tolo Harbour (吐露港) and Plover Cove (船灣).
When the ferry passes by Wong Chuk Kok Tsui (黃竹角咀), you can see Devil's Fist (鬼手岩), one of the popular spectacles of Hong Kong.
It takes 1.5 hours to go to Kat O, then the ferry will go to Ap Chau (鴨州), staying until 12:30 am and go to Kat O again
The ferry will leave Kat O at 3:30 pm, if the weather is nice, you can enjoy the sunset scenery on the way back to Ma Liu Shui.
