Tabin Wildlife Reserve (Malay: Taman Hidupan Liar Tabin) is located in the eastern part of Sabah, Malaysia, on the island of Borneo. The reserve is considered to be the largest wildlife reserve in Malaysia, the mud volcano is one of its highlights.
To visit the mud volcano, you need to walk through a muddy rainforest, it is more difficult if it is raining.
There is an observation deck next to the mud volcano, the mineral-rich mud volcano attracts many wildlife for their mineral intake, so it is also an ideal platform for wildlife observation and bird watching.
The mud volcano or mud dome is a landform created by the eruption of mud or slurries, water and gases, it is not true igneous volcanoes as they do not produce lava and are not necessarily driven by magmatic activity.
The mud produced by mud volcanoes is mostly formed as hot water, which has been heated deep below the Earth's surface, begins to mix and blend with subterranean mineral deposits, thus creating the mud slurry exudate.
