Cuihua Mountain (Chinese: 翠華山) is in the northern part of the Qinling (秦嶺) Mountains, 20 kilometers from downtown Xian (西安), Shaanxi (陝西) Province, China. As a part of Zhongnanshan (終南山) National Forest Park, Cuihua Mountain is one of the first 11 Geoparks authorized in China.
Cuihua Mountain is mainly composed of three parts, Bishan Lake (碧山湖), Heavenly Pond (天池) and Collapsed Hills (山崩石海).
Having experienced many devastating earthquakes in ancient times, Cuihua Mountain features unique landslide formations.
To see those unique landslide formations, you need to go up on foot instead of riding the electric carts.
According to the historical records, during the early stage of Wese Zhou (西周) Dynasty (BC 780), there had been a great earthquake in Cuihua Mountain.
Besides the collapsed rocks, you can also see steep peaks, cliffs, and dammed lakes in Cuihua Mountain created by the earthquakes.
The rocks have weird and various shapes, some of them look like camels, some like rabbits, and some like cranes, just exert your imagination.
The best time to visit Cuihua Mountain is spring, it is not too hot and too cold, and wildflowers are everywhere.
