Kongtong Mountains (Chinese: 崆峒山) is located in Pingliang (平涼) City, Gansu (甘肅) Province, China. The scenic area of Kongtong Mountains can be divided into two parts: the Taoist area and the Buddhist area, while the Taoist area is more beautiful.
The Taoist area has a stairway named Tianti (天梯; literally meaning sky stairway), the stairway can be divided into three parts, the first part is 45 degrees incline, which is the easiest.
Kongtong Mountains is believed to be the mythical meeting site between Huangdi (黃帝) the first emperor of China and Guangchengzi (廣成子) the immortal.
The second part of the stairway is 60 degree incline, don’t look back.
The third part of the stairway is 75 degree incline, fortunately it is the shortest, only a few steps away from the destination.
Kongtong Mountains is one of the sacred mountains of Taoism. It enjoys the reputation as ‘The Holy Land of Taoism’, ‘The Remarkable Spectacle of Western China’ and ‘The First Mountain in Western China’.
