Mukden Palace (Chinese: 盛京宮殿) also known as Shenyang Imperial Palace (瀋陽故宮), which is located at the center of Shenyang (瀋陽), Liaoning (遼寧) Province, China. It was the former imperial palace of the early Manchu-led Qing (清) dynasty.
According to its layout, it can be divided into three parts: East Section, Middle Section and West Section, and set Middle Section as the main body.
The buildings are arranged on a central axis with a number of symmetrical out-buildings on either side. Chongzheng Hall (崇政殿) was the place where the emperor carried out political activities.
The main part of the Middle Section is located in the centre of the ancient city of Shenyang, built in the Hong Taiji (皇太極) period.
The layout of the building from the Eight Banners system in the East Section is a unique feature of the Mukden Palace.
The Shiwang Pavilions (十王亭) of East Section were built in the Nurhachi (努爾哈赤) period. The East Section was founded in 1625 and was the place where the emperor held the ‘Great Ceremony’ and the office of the Eight Banners Minister.
All buildings have been converted to exhibition halls which display the weapons used in the Qing Dynasty.
