Lao and Japanese archaeologists have discovered human remains and burial goods around the jars and concluded that the jars were associated with prehistoric burial practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20121002-1753-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20121002-1747-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Countless stone jars scattered on Xiangkhoang Plateau. Between 1964 and 1973, the Plain of Jars was heavily bombed by the U.S. Air Force operating against North Vietnamese and Pathet Lao communist forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20121002-1757.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20121002-1759.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many bomb pits and trenches in the site, now they all become tourist spots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20121002-1805-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Although people are not allowed to step on the stone jars, some tourists are still doing it, thus imposing damage to some of the jars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20121002-1802-3.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20121002-1804-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Lao legends tell of a race of giants who inhabited the area and fought a long and ultimately victorious battle against an enemy.
