The falls are 100 meters wide and have a drop of 44 meters down to the canyon J\u00f6kuls\u00e1rglj\u00fafur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Dettifoss is situated on the J\u00f6kuls\u00e1 \u00e1 Fj\u00f6llum river, which flows from the Vatnaj\u00f6kull glacier and collects water from a large area in Northeast Iceland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" flow of 193 m\u00b3\/s, it is the second largest waterfall in Iceland in terms of volume discharge (behind the Urri\u00f0afoss).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There are also some small waterfalls near Dettifoss, and tourists can walk along the river to visit, but the ground is very slippery, so be careful when
