Dimmuborgir Is composed of various volcanic caves and rock formations, reminiscent of an ancient collapsed citadel, such a dramatic structure is one of most popular natural tourist attractions of Iceland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/iceland_2017\/20170821-17-55-12.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/iceland_2017\/20170821-17-18-32.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In Icelandic language, \u201cdimmu\u201d means \u201cdark\u201d, while \u201cborgir\u201d means \u201ccities\u201d or \u201ccastles\u201d, so Dimmuborgir means \u201cDark castles\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/iceland_2017\/20170821-17-18-55.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/iceland_2017\/20170821-17-46-05.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are lucky, visitors may meet the \u201cdescendants of giants\u201d in the park, but of course, these so-called \u201cdescendants of giants\u201d are all disguised by staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/iceland_2017\/20170821-17-39-19.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/iceland_2017\/20170821-17-24-21.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Dimmuborgir is a large area of unusually shaped lava fields, consisting of a massive, collapsed lava tube formed by a lava lake flowing in from a large eruption about 2300 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/iceland_2017\/20170821-17-33-54.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/iceland_2017\/20170821-17-51-44.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In Icelandic folklore, Dimmuborgir is said to connect earth with the infernal regions. In Nordic Christian lore, it is also said that Dimmuborgir is the place where Satan landed when he was cast from the heavens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/iceland_2017\/20170821-17-34-21.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/iceland_2017\/20170821-17-42-38.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a \u201cgiant's residence\u201d in Dimmuborgir, which is also not real.
