Kang Youwei (\u5eb7\u6709\u70ba) purchased the residence in 1924 and lived here until his death in March 1927.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shandong_2018\/20181225-11-41-46.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shandong_2018\/20181225-11-08-39.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Kang Youwei (1858 \u2013 1927) was a prominent political thinker and reformer in China of the late Qing dynasty. His ideas were influential in the abortive Hundred Days' Reform (\u767e\u65e5\u7dad\u65b0).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shandong_2018\/20181225-11-08-13.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shandong_2018\/20181225-11-10-22.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Criticized by many people for supporting warlord Zhang Xun (\u5f35\u52db), Kang Youwei went to Qingdao in 1917 for the first time, aiming to find \"peace of mind\". Later in 1924, he bought this house and settled down in Qingdao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shandong_2018\/20181225-11-10-38.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shandong_2018\/20181225-11-11-52.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The building is in German style as a whole, but also has a little influence of traditional Chinese architecture. The former residence has been converted into a memorial hall for the public to visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shandong_2018\/20181225-11-16-13.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shandong_2018\/20181225-11-14-12.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several exhibition halls in the memorial hall. In addition to introducing Kang Youwei's life, it also collects a lot of furniture and objects used by Kang Youwei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shandong_2018\/20181225-11-22-35.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shandong_2018\/20181225-11-25-07.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Kang Youwei himself was a great poet and calligrapher of his time. In one of his poems, Kang Youwei said it was Qingdao's \"heavenly land-and-seascape\" that drew him to this coastal city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shandong_2018\/20181225-11-22-56.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shandong_2018\/20181225-11-23-07.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Kang Youwei had traveled around the world during his lifetime and left behind many articles and poems written during his travels. The exhibition hall also displays some handicrafts purchased by Kang Youwei during his journey, which is very interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shandong_2018\/20181225-11-26-59.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shandong_2018\/20181225-11-33-11.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1927, Kang Youwei fell ill after attending a banquet, and later died of illness in his bedroom.
