The temple was built in the Ayutthaya (\u0e2d\u0e32\u0e13\u0e32\u0e08\u0e31\u0e01\u0e23\u0e2d\u0e22\u0e38\u0e18\u0e22\u0e32) period. It was the site of the Battle of Bang Kung during the Burmese\u2013Siamese War (1765\u20131767).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/bangkok_2014\/2014-06-29-13-32-57.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/bangkok_2014\/2014-06-29-13-35-57.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Wat Bang Kung is covered with roots of four big trees: Pho (Bodhi), Sai (Banyan), Krai, and Krang. These roots preserve the structure of the temple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/bangkok_2014\/2014-06-29-13-30-22.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/bangkok_2014\/2014-06-29-13-26-50.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a Buddha statue enshrined in Wat Bang Kung. The Buddha statue is covered with gold foil, glittering with gold, and it has a wonderful and moving vitality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/bangkok_2014\/2014-06-29-13-21-33.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/bangkok_2014\/2014-06-29-13-22-05.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Although a notice has shown that no photography is allowed, everyone in the temple takes pictures and no one stops them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/bangkok_2014\/2014-06-29-13-31-14.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/bangkok_2014\/2014-06-29-13-28-38.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There are some old frescoes left in the temple, the theme is Jataka (Sanskrit: \u091c\u093e\u0924\u0915), the story of the previous life of the Gautama Buddha before he became a Buddha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/bangkok_2014\/2014-06-29-13-21-20.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/bangkok_2014\/2014-06-29-13-38-40.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Not too far from Wat Bang Kung stands a bronze statue of King Taksin the Great (Thai: \u0e2a\u0e21\u0e40\u0e14\u0e47\u0e08 \u0e1e\u0e23\u0e30\u0e40\u0e08\u0e49\u0e32 \u0e15\u0e32\u0e01\u0e2a\u0e34\u0e19 \u0e15\u0e32\u0e01\u0e2a\u0e34\u0e19 \u0e21\u0e2b\u0e32\u0e23\u0e32\u0e0a; 1734-1782). King Taksin the Great was the founder and monarch of the Kingdom of Thonburi (\u0e2d\u0e32\u0e13\u0e32\u0e08\u0e31\u0e01\u0e23 \u0e18\u0e19\u0e1a\u0e38\u0e23\u0e35), reigned from 1767 to 1782.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/bangkok_2014\/2014-06-29-13-40-12.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/bangkok_2014\/2014-06-29-13-40-39.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>During the Siam-Burma War, King Taksin the Great led a large army to defeat the Burmese army here, so that Thailand could escape the doom of being annexed by Burma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/bangkok_2014\/2014-06-29-13-40-57.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/bangkok_2014\/2014-06-29-13-45-14.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Wat Bang Kung is not far from the Amphawa Floating Market (\u0e15\u0e25\u0e32\u0e14\u0e19\u0e49\u0e33\u0e2d\u0e31\u0e21\u0e1e\u0e27\u0e32). Visitors can rent a speedboat from the floating market to go here through Mekong River.
