The primary public areas of the park are the South and North Rims, the South Rim is more accessible than the North Rim and accounts for 90% of park visitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/usa_2018\/20180404-04-50-51.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/usa_2018\/20180404-04-25-33.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Most visitors to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon pass through a small town named Tusayan.  The Grand Canyon is a world-renowned attraction, and there is a long line at the entrance to the park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/usa_2018\/20180404-05-06-02.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/usa_2018\/20180404-05-06-36.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many attractions on the South Rim. Navajo Point is amongst the most popular ones, so there are many tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/usa_2018\/20180404-05-10-20.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/usa_2018\/20180404-05-35-28.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Grand Canyon is 446 kilometers long and 1,200 meters deep on average, up to 29 kilometers wide and attains a depth of over 1,800 meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/usa_2018\/20180404-05-18-43.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/usa_2018\/20180404-05-13-49.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The canyon itself was created by the incision of the Colorado River and its tributaries after the Colorado Plateau was uplifted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/usa_2018\/20180404-05-15-13.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/usa_2018\/20180404-05-15-26.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Grand Canyon was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979, it is the 15th site in the United States to have been named as a national park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/usa_2018\/20180404-05-14-27.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/usa_2018\/20180404-05-36-16.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There are some squirrels near the viewing platform.
