Gili Islands are composed of three small islands: Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air, all islands are popular tourist destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/indonesia_2018\/20180218-11-28-04.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/indonesia_2018\/20180217-08-06-09.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Gili Air is the closest island to Lombok and is the second largest of Gili islands. \u2018Air\u2019 means water in Indonesian since Gili Air is the only island which has subterranean fresh water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/indonesia_2018\/20180217-08-11-49.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/indonesia_2018\/20180218-11-33-15.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Automobiles and motorized traffic are prohibited on Gili Islands by local ordinance, so the preferred method of transportation is by foot and bicycle or the horse-drawn carriage called a cidomo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/indonesia_2018\/20180217-08-10-47-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/indonesia_2018\/20180217-08-12-27.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Gili Islands have many resorts, usually consisting of a collection of huts for tourists, a small pool and restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/indonesia_2018\/20180218-15-06-58.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/indonesia_2018\/20180218-15-10-24.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Scuba diving and free diving in and around the Gilis is also common due to the abundance of marine life and coral formations. Most famous diving spots are Shark point, Manta point and Simon's reef.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/indonesia_2018\/20180217-08-25-31.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/indonesia_2018\/20180218-15-08-46.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The name \u2018Gili Islands\u2019 is a misnomer, because Gili simply means \u2018small island\u2019 in Sasak.
