The fountain was designed by Italian architect Nicola Salvi and completed by Giuseppe Pannini and several others in 1762.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160605-00-36-47.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160605-00-34-56.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Standing 26.3 metres high and 49.15 metres wide, Trevi Fountain is the largest Baroque fountain in the city and one of the most famous fountains in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160605-00-38-14.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160605-00-37-22.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The fountain was refurbished once in 1988 to remove discoloration caused by smog, and again in 1998, the stonework was scrubbed and all cracks and other areas of deterioration were repaired by skilled artisans, and the fountain was equipped with recirculating pumps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160605-00-39-54.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160605-00-37-25.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the legend, tossing coins into the Trevi Fountain will bring you back to Rome again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160605-00-38-21.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>An estimated 3,000 euros are thrown into the fountain each day.
