It is built on the site of the Stadium of Domitian, built in the 1st century AD, and follows the form of the open space of the stadium. Fontana del Moro and Fontana del Nettuno are located in Piazza Navona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160604-22-56-01.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160604-23-06-24.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Fontana del Moro, literally meaning the fountain of Moor, is a fountain located at the southern end of the Piazza Navona. The fountain has a statue of Moor wrestling with a dolphin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160604-23-07-00.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160604-23-07-19.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The fountain was originally designed by Giacomo della Porta in 1575 with the dolphin and four Tritons, then, the statue of Moor was added by Gian Lorenzo Bernini In 1653.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160604-22-49-08.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The statue of Moor is surrounded by four Tritons. Triton (Greek: \u03a4\u03c1\u03af\u03c4\u03c9\u03bd) is a Greek god of the sea, the son of Poseidon. Triton is often depicted as having a conch shell he would blow like a trumpet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160604-22-47-41.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160604-23-07-07.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Fontana del Nettuno, literally meaning the fountain of Neptune, is located at the north end of the Piazza Navona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160604-22-54-16.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160604-22-57-54.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The basin of the Fontana del Nettuno, was designed in 1574 by Giacomo Della Porta, who was also responsible for the Moor Fountain at the other side of the square.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160604-22-57-30.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160604-22-58-17.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For the next 300 years, the fountain survived without statues.
