Sanmachi has long been the place where common people lived and traded and where merchants gathered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015a\/20151020-15-52-43.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015a\/20151020-15-54-30.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>About 300 years ago, daimyo and county officials set up their residences in the Sanmachi area. The buildings from the late Edo (\u6c5f\u6236) period to the Meiji (\u660e\u6cbb) period are still well preserved, which attracts many tourists to visit here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015a\/20151020-15-55-10.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015a\/20151020-16-05-53.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many kinds of shops, such as homestays, wine cellars, restaurants, cafes and grocery stores in Sanmachi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015a\/20151020-15-58-30.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015a\/20151020-15-57-05.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sanmachi is an area of \u200b\u200babout 150 meters east-west and about 420 meters north-south across Kamisannomachi (\u4e0a\u4e09\u4e4b\u753a), Kamininomachi (\u4e0a\u4e8c\u4e4b\u753a), Kamininomachi (\u4e0a\u4e00\u4e4b\u753a), Kataharacho (\u7247\u539f\u753a), and Shinmeicho 4-chome (\u795e\u660e\u753a4\u4e01\u76ee).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015a\/20151020-15-59-36.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015a\/20151020-16-09-03.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Hida beef is a Takayama specialty, and visitors can enjoy various beef dishes such as beef sashimi and beef buns in Sanmachi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015a\/20151020-15-56-45.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015a\/20151020-16-01-45.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides food, the traditional Japanese handicrafts sold in Sancho are also not to be missed. Although the handicraft is quite expensive, all are in good quality and made in Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015a\/20151020-16-10-41.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015a\/20151020-16-11-44.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, when visiting Takayama City, don't forget to take a photo with the two patron saints of Takayama.
