Tagong Monastery has a history of more than a thousand years and is one of the holy places for Tibetans in the Kangba area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/sichuan_2016\/20161027-10-49-38.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/sichuan_2016\/20161027-10-52-01.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Tagong Temple is a temple of the Sakya Sect (Tibetan: \u0f66\u0f0b\u0f66\u0f90\u0fb1\u0f0b\u0f54\u0f0b) of Tibetan Buddhism. It is sunny today, both the temple and the prayer flags are very colorful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/sichuan_2016\/20161027-10-51-36.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/sichuan_2016\/20161027-10-52-52.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A Tibetan prayer flag is a colorful rectangular cloth, often found strung along trails and peaks high in the Himalayas. They are used to bless the surrounding countryside and for other purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/sichuan_2016\/20161027-10-53-42.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/sichuan_2016\/20161027-10-58-54.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>According to legend, in 641 AD, when Princess Wencheng (\u6587\u6210\u516c\u4e3b) was passing through this place, the Buddha statue she took became very heavy and could not be lifted, so the princess ordered the craftsmen to make a replica and enshrined here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/sichuan_2016\/20161027-10-59-46.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/sichuan_2016\/20161027-10-57-59.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Tagong\u2019 means \u2018a place where the Bodhisattva likes\u2019 in Tibetan, and its name is rightly derived from this immovable Buddha statue.
