Uesugi Shrine enshrines Uesugi Kenshin (\u4e0a\u6749\u8b19\u4fe1), one of the most powerful warriors of the civil wars of the 15th and 16th centuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015\/2015-03-08-12-56-19.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015\/2015-03-08-13-22-59.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Uesugi Kenshin (1530 \u2013 1578) was one of the most powerful daimy\u014ds of the Sengoku period (\u6226\u56fd\u6642\u4ee3), known as the \u2018Dragon of Echigo\u2019 (\u8d8a\u5f8c\u306e\u9f8d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015\/2015-03-08-13-21-24.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015\/2015-03-08-13-26-32.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a tourist center inside the park, which sells souvenirs related to Yonezawa and Uesugi Kenshin. You can also have a cup of hot green tea here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015\/2015-03-08-13-27-07.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015\/2015-03-08-13-29-47.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides his prowess on the battlefield, Uesugi Kenshin is also regarded as an extremely skillful administrator who fostered the growth of local industries and trade and his rule saw a marked rise in the standard of living of Echigo (\u8d8a\u5f8c\u56fd).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015\/2015-03-08-13-32-58.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2015\/2015-03-08-13-35-49.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Uesugi Kenshin believed in Bishamonten (\u6bd8\u6c99\u9580\u5929), the Buddhist god of war.
