The castle has over 100 years of history, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Tainan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/taiwan_2010\/20101127-1535.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/taiwan_2010\/20101127-1538.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The walls and most of Eternal Golden Castle are still well preserved, you can hire a boat and row around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/taiwan_2010\/20101127-1536.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/taiwan_2010\/20101127-1537.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The castle was built in 1874 and completed in 1876 by the famous Qing (\u6e05) Dynasty\u2019s official Shen Baozhen (\u6c88\u8446\u6968) in order to safeguard the coast and to defend Taiwan against Japanese invasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/taiwan_2010\/20101127-1539.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/taiwan_2010\/20101127-1544.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When Taiwan was ceded to the Empire of Japan by the Qing in 1895, the Taiwanese people fought against the invading Japanese battleships from this fortress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/taiwan_2010\/20101127-1548.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/taiwan_2010\/20101127-1549.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>During the Russo-Japanese War, the imperial Japanese government sold some of the fort's cannons, thus its military value was completely lost. The cannons we seen nowadays are only replicas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/taiwan_2010\/20101127-1555.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/taiwan_2010\/20101127-1552.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Eternal Golden Castle has cannon shows on Saturday and Sunday.
