Castel Sant'Angelo was once the tallest building in Rome, now it is a museum and one of the popular tourist attractions in Rome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160604-21-02-04.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160604-21-03-19.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Castel Sant'Angelo was initially commissioned by the Roman Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum for himself and his family. The building was later used by the popes as a fortress and castle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160604-21-17-36.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/italy_2016\/20160604-21-17-41.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The tomb of the Roman emperor Hadrian, also called Hadrian's mole, was erected on the right bank of the Tiber, built between AD 134 and 139.
