It is one of most visited tourist spots in the city due to it being one of the earliest that survives in the Indian subcontinent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/india_2017\/20170128-19-06-10.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/india_2017\/20170128-18-59-21.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Qutb Minar is 72.5 meters high, making it the tallest minaret in the world built of bricks. The tower tapers, and has a 14.3 metres base diameter, reducing to 2.7 metres at the top of the peak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/india_2017\/20170128-18-59-25.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/india_2017\/20170128-18-58-37.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The whole tower contains a spiral staircase of 379 steps. It is elaborately decorated with inscriptions and geometric patterns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/india_2017\/20170128-19-06-11.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/india_2017\/20170128-19-04-00.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Qutb Minar is surrounded by several historically significant monuments of the Qutb complex. It was added to the list of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1993.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/india_2017\/20170128-19-16-57.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/india_2017\/20170128-19-03-24.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Qutb Minar was built under the reign of Delhi Sultanate (\u0633\u0644\u0637\u0646\u062a \u062f\u0647\u0644\u06cc), which was an Islamic empire based in Delhi that stretched over large parts of the Indian subcontinent for 320 years (1206\u20131526).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/india_2017\/20170128-19-05-03.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/india_2017\/20170128-19-16-57.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also visit the tomb of Iltutmish, which is still preserved well. Qutb Minar was completed under the reign of Iltutmish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/india_2017\/20170128-19-17-27.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/india_2017\/20170128-19-18-47.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Shams ud-Din Iltutmish, (\u0634\u0645\u0633 \u0627\u0644\u062f\u064a\u0646 \u0627\u0644\u062a\u062a\u0645\u0634; r. 1211\u20131236) was the third king of Delhi Sultanate who ruled northern India.
