Buddhist temples are everywhere in Luang Phabang, Choumeizai will talk about Wat Visoun (\u0ea7\u0eb1\u0e94\u0e9e\u0eb0\u0ec0\u0e88\u0ebb\u0ec9\u0eb2\u0ea7\u0eb4\u0e8a\u0eb8\u0e99\u0e99\u0eb0\u0ea5\u0eb2\u0e94).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20120930-1610-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20120930-1610-3.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Wat Visoun, also named Wat Visounnalat, was originally built during the reign of King Wisunarat (or Vixoun, 1501-1520) in 1512 or 1513 and represents the earliest style of Lao temple architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20120930-1611.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20120930-1606.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The original Wat Visoun was a wooden structure, it was a spectacular example of Lao craftsmanship at its finest. However, the temple was destroyed during the invasion of the Chinese marauders in 1887.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20120930-1624-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20120930-1630-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Wat Visoun was rebuilt between 1896 and 1898, the major part of the structure was brick and plaster in place of the wood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20120930-1618-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20120930-1605.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>That Pathoum, or Stupa of the Great Lotus, is another important and prominent feature of Wat Visoun, it is in the front and northeastern side of the temple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20120930-1610-4.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/laos_2012\/20120930-1620.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The stupa is known more popularly as That Makmo, which means \u2018Watermelon Stupa\u00ef\u2019 in Lao. because of its rounded dome.
