{"id":4145,"date":"2021-06-23T11:18:27","date_gmt":"2021-06-23T03:18:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/info.thetravel.me\/?p=4145"},"modified":"2021-06-23T11:19:09","modified_gmt":"2021-06-23T03:19:09","slug":"bingling-temple-the-thousand-buddha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/info.thetravel.me\/en\/bingling-temple-the-thousand-buddha\/","title":{"rendered":"Bingling Temple the thousand Buddha"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bingling Temple (Chinese: \u70b3\u9748\u5bfa) is located in Yongjing County of Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture (\u81e8\u590f\u56de\u65cf\u81ea\u6cbb\u5dde) in Gansu (\u7518\u8085) province, China. \u2018Bingling\u2019 in Tibetan means \u2018Thousand Buddha\u2019, so Bingling Temple Grottoes are also called Thousand-Buddha Caves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-11-25-06.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-11-29-05.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Altogether there are 183 caves, Cave No. 171 is amongst the biggest, the Great Maitreya Buddha sitting inside the cave is 27 meters high, the biggest statue of Bingling Temple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-11-20-04.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-11-21-44.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Great Maitreya Buddha was built during Tang Dynasty (A.D. 618-907), while Buddhism reached its heyday, about two third of the caves in Bingling Temple Grottoes were made at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-11-23-26.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-11-24-16.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The grottoes were a work in progress for more than a millennium, the first grotto was begun around 420 CE at the end of the Western Qin (\u897f\u79e6) Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-11-35-45.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"487\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-11-38-23.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Work continued and more grottoes were added during the Wei (\u9b4f), Sui (\u968b), Tang (\u5510), Song (\u5b8b), Yuan (\u5143), Ming (\u660e), and Qing (\u6e05) dynasties.
