{"id":4139,"date":"2021-06-22T10:10:00","date_gmt":"2021-06-22T02:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/info.thetravel.me\/?p=4139"},"modified":"2021-06-22T10:10:30","modified_gmt":"2021-06-22T02:10:30","slug":"bingling-temple-the-grottoes-of-silk-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/info.thetravel.me\/en\/bingling-temple-the-grottoes-of-silk-road\/","title":{"rendered":"Bingling Temple the grottoes of Silk Road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bingling Temple (Chinese: \u70b3\u9748\u5bfa) is a series of grottoes filled with Buddhist sculpture carved into natural caves and caverns in a canyon along the Yellow River, it is located in Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture (\u81e8\u590f\u56de\u65cf\u81ea\u6cbb\u5dde) in Gansu (\u7518\u8085) province, China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-10-23-44.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"487\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-10-32-27.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Bingling Temple was firstly built in A.D. 420 at the end of Western Qin (\u897f\u79e6), then the work continued and more caves were added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"487\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-10-27-57.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-10-47-48%20(1).webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Bingling\u2019 in Tibetan means \u2018Thousand Buddha\u2019, so Bingling Temple Grottoes are also called Thousand-Buddha Caves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-10-46-59.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-11-10-47.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Bingling Temple lies just north of where the Yellow River empties into the Liujiaxia Reservoir (\u5289\u5bb6\u5cfd\u6c34\u5eab), which is some 100 km southeast of Lanzhou (\u862d\u5dde), the capital of the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-11-01-59.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-10-58-30.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Bingling Temple has 183 caves and niches, 694 stone statues, 82 clay sculptures, and 900 square meters of murals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-11-15-46.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"487\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-10-59-06.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the murals are still well preserved, the colors are still vivid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"487\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-10-55-04.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/gansu_14\/2014-06-01-11-16-37.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Work continued and more grottoes were added during the Wei (\u9b4f), Sui (\u968b), Tang (\u5510), Song (\u5b8b), Yuan (\u5143), Ming (\u660e), and Qing (\u6e05) dynasties.
