Kita-in has over 1,200 years of history, which makes it a popular tourist attraction in Kawagoe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2014\/2014-02-18-12-44-32.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2014\/2014-02-18-12-37-16.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Kita-in is also known informally as the Kawagoe Daishi (\u5ddd\u8d8a\u5927\u5e2b), it is noted for its main hall, which was part of the original Edo (\u6c5f\u6236) Castle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2014\/2014-02-18-13-09-10.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2014\/2014-02-18-12-41-03.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Kita-in is believed to have been founded in 830 under the orders of Emperor Junna (\u6df3\u548c), with the name Mury\u014dju-ji (\u7121\u91cf\u5bff\u5bfa), Mury\u014dju being another name for Amitabha Buddha, the main object of worship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2014\/2014-02-18-12-41-03%20(1).webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2014\/2014-02-18-12-59-48.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Next to the entrance of Kita-in stand the statues of 540 disciples of Buddha known as the 500 rakan (\u4e94\u767e\u7f85\u6f22).
