{"id":4018,"date":"2021-06-03T11:21:56","date_gmt":"2021-06-03T03:21:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/info.thetravel.me\/?p=4018"},"modified":"2021-06-03T11:27:01","modified_gmt":"2021-06-03T03:27:01","slug":"xumishan-grottoes-big-buddha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/info.thetravel.me\/en\/xumishan-grottoes-big-buddha\/","title":{"rendered":"Xumishan Grottoes: Big Buddha"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Xumishan Grottoes (Chinese: \u9808\u5f4c\u5c71\u77f3\u7a9f) are located on the eastern edge of Mount Xumi (\u9808\u5f4c\u5c71) in Guyuan (Chinese: \u56fa\u539f) City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region (\u5be7\u590f\u56de\u65cf\u81ea\u6cbb\u5340), China.The most iconic element of Xumishan Grottoes is a 20 meters tall seated Buddha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130410-1349-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130410-1545.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The big Buddha statue is housed in grotto no.5, also named Big Buddha Mansion (\u5927\u4f5b\u6a13), which was built in the early Tang dynasty (7th century).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130410-1539-3.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130410-1540-3.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The colossal statue represents Maitreya (Sanskrit: \u092e\u0948\u0924\u094d\u0930\u0947\u092f), the Buddha of the future. According to Buddhist tradition, Maitreya is a bodhisattva who will appear on Earth in the future, achieve complete enlightenment, and teach pure dharma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130410-1539.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130410-1540.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Buddha statue housed in grotto no.1 is the second largest in Xumishan Grottoes, which is around 5 meters tall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130410-1547-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130410-1548-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the Buddha statues are currently protected by large fences, they have been subjected to erosion and improper conservation such as the improper use of cement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130410-1550-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130410-1553.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Xumishan Grottoes were excavated in the (\u5317\u9b4f) Dynasty (A.D. 368-534), while the Tang Dynasty (A.D. 618-906) is a key phase of development.
