This temple is built symmetrically, layers upon layers to 29 meters high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130408-1119.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130408-1119-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Gao Miao is a temple that has hosted Confucian (\u5b54\u5b50), Buddhist, and Taoist ceremonies, now it is mainly a Buddhist temple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130408-1122-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130408-1120-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Arhat Hall (\u7f85\u6f22\u5802) is one of the main attractions in Gao Miao, there are 500 lively arhat statues inside the hall, although they are not antique,  it is still worth seeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130408-1130.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130408-1130-3.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Gao Miao was first built during the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD), but then flattened by an earthquake in 1739 AD. After that, it was rebuilt and enlarged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130408-1123-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130408-1127.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several distorting mirrors in a room, meaning \u2018the distortion of human nature\u2019, a prelude to the tour of The \u2018Hell\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130408-1158-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130408-1139-3.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u2018Hell\u2019 is actually a tourist attraction and the rendition of a Buddhist hell, revealing the scenes of torture, suffering and death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130408-1150.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130408-1151-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u2018Hell\u2019 was converted from a bomb shelter built during the Cultural Revolution.
