Western Xia was a kingdom that existed between 1038 and 1227, about which little is currently known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130407-1421.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130407-1423.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Inside the scenic area of Western Xia Mausoleum, you can see the signages written in Tangut (\u515a\u9805) script.  Tangut script was a logographic writing system, used for writing the extinct language of Western Xia. The characters are similar in appearance to Chinese characters, but the methods of forming characters are significantly different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130407-1607.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130407-1513.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the written records and architecture of Western Xia were destroyed, so the founders and history of the empire remained obscure until 20th-century research in the West and in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130407-1500.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130407-1502.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a museum displaying the funerary artifacts found in this area, you can see an Angel and Markara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130407-1509.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130407-1510.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The waxworks of the museum look quite coarse, but they reappear the sceneries of ancient Western Xia, tourists will know more about this mysterious ancient kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/info.thetravel.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/20130407-1519.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3850\" srcset=\"https:\/\/info.thetravel.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/20130407-1519.jpg 650w, https:\/\/info.thetravel.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/20130407-1519-510x340.jpg 510w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/ningxia_2013\/20130407-1525-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Western Xia occupied the area around the Hexi Corridor (\u6cb3\u897f\u8d70\u5eca), a stretch of the Silk Road, it made significant achievements in literature, art, music, and architecture.
