Uji Shrine is adjacent to the Ujigami Shrine (\u5b87\u6cbb\u4e0a\u795e\u793e), while Ujigami Shrine is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2013a\/2013-11-24-16-29-13.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2013a\/2013-11-24-16-30-05.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The visiting path of the Uji Shrine is decorated with plastic cups, which are painted with the images of rabbits, and look so cute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2013a\/2013-11-24-16-29-54.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2013a\/2013-11-24-16-31-04.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The buildings of Uji Shrine look new, perhaps the shrine is surrounded by gloomy forest, Choumeizai feels a bit spooky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2013a\/2013-11-24-16-36-29.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2013a\/2013-11-24-16-35-36.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Ujigami Shrine was built as a guardian shrine for the nearby By\u014dd\u014d-in (\u5e73\u7b49\u9662), the honden (\u672c\u6bbf) and haiden have been designated by the Agency for Cultural Affairs (\u62dd\u6bbf) as National Treasures in the category shrines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2013a\/2013-11-24-16-40-07.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2013a\/2013-11-24-16-40-17.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Ujigami Shrine was found via digital dendrochronology to be the oldest original Shinto shrine in Japan, a research determined that the shrine was built in approximately 1060, which closely matches the written account of the founding of the shrine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2013a\/2013-11-24-16-45-33.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2013a\/2013-11-24-16-45-29.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Until the Meiji (\u660e\u6cbb) Period (1868 \u2013 1912) the Uji and Ujigami shrines were collectively known as the Rikyukamisha (\u96e2\u5bae\u4e0a\u793e).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2013a\/2013-11-24-16-41-42.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2013a\/2013-11-24-16-44-18.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Not far from Uji shrines, there is a 13 tiered stone pagoda, the biggest ancient stone pagoda in Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2013a\/2013-11-24-16-55-47.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2013a\/2013-11-24-16-55-43.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/other_asia\/travel_japan_13a_00.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kyoto and Nara 2013 (Chinese only)<\/a><\/h2>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Uji Shrine (Japanese: \u5b87\u6cbb\u795e\u793e) is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Uji (\u5b87\u6cbb) in Kyoto (\u4eac\u90fd) Prefecture, Japan.
