The mansion served as the residence for both Commander Zhuang Zuolin (\u5f35\u4f5c\u9716) and his son, Young Marshal Zhang Xueliang (\u5f35\u5b78\u826f).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/notheeast_2013\/122413-21-45.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/notheeast_2013\/122413-25-19.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The mansion is a splendid architectural complex consisting of four parts: the east, center, west yards and auxiliary buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/notheeast_2013\/122413-26-46.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/notheeast_2013\/122413-27-00.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The oldest, and most traditional looking part of the mansion is the Three Courtyards (\u4e09\u9032\u9662). Construction on this part of the complex was started in 1914, and the Zhang family moved into the courtyards in 1916.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/notheeast_2013\/122413-48-51.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/notheeast_2013\/122413-28-16.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Three Courtyards are built in the traditional Chinese Siheyuan (\u56db\u5408\u9662) style, where the buildings form a quadrangle surrounding a courtyard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/notheeast_2013\/122413-38-32.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/notheeast_2013\/122413-43-11.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The courtyards have eleven buildings total, they contain everything from a kitchen to a warehouse, to living quarters for the extended family, as well as general offices, reception halls, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/notheeast_2013\/122413-44-35.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/notheeast_2013\/122413-45-12.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the buildings have been converted to exhibition halls, showcasing about Xi'an Incident (\u897f\u5b89\u4e8b\u8b8a), which was a political crisis that took place in Xi'an, Republic of China (\u4e2d\u83ef\u6c11\u570b) in 1936.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/notheeast_2013\/122413-52-41.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/notheeast_2013\/122413-50-10.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The garden behind the Three Courtyards is decorated with many Taihu stone (\u592a\u6e56\u77f3), looks like the royal garden in the Forbidden City in Beijing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/notheeast_2013\/122414-05-57.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/notheeast_2013\/122414-08-07.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/china_taiwan\/travel_northeast_13_00.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Frozen in Northeast 2013 (Chinese only)<\/a><\/h4>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marshal Zhang\u2019s Mansion (Chinese: \u5f35\u6c0f\u5e25\u5e9c) is located in Shenyang (\u700b\u967d), Liaoning (\u907c\u5be7) Province, China.
