The temple is deemed to be the most well preserved City God Temple in Shaanxi Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110422-2377.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110422-2380.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Built in 1375 during the Ming (\u660e) Dynasty, Sanyuan City God Temple is one of the most complete examples of its kind dating from the Ming and Qing (\u6e05) Dynasties (1368-1911).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110422-2392.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110422-2394.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>With an area of 13,390 square meters, the main buildings were erected on a traditional north-south axis and the secondary buildings are equally distributed on the east and west sides of this axis. Such symmetrical arrangement is a perfect example of traditional Ming Dynasty architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110422-2462.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110422-2399.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Constructed in 1757, Lingxing Gate is actually a two-storey tower with a height of 13 meters. The north side of the second floor serves as a stage. It was here that many Chinese traditional operas were performed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110422-2406.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110422-2414.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The central courtyard is the essence of Sanyuan City God Temple, in the center of the courtyard stands the Main Palace (\u737b\u6bbf), which houses the statue of the City God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110422-2409.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110422-2459.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A Bell Tower (\u9418\u6a13) and a drum tower (\u9f13\u6a13) stand symmetrically on the east and west sides of the central courtyard. Both are 17.5 meters tall and each has 12 pillars in order to bear the weight of their roofs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110422-2412.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110422-2415.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the center of the courtyard stands a spectacular archway, which is the biggest in the whole temple.
