According to legend, the king spent the first watch of every night with a woman thought to represent a N\u0101ga in the tower, during that time, not even the queen was permitted to intrude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/cambodia_2011\/0917-154428.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/cambodia_2011\/0917-154432.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism, the N\u0101ga is a semi-divine race of half-human half-serpent beings, if the king did not show up at the tower, calamity would strike his land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/cambodia_2011\/0917-154533.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/cambodia_2011\/0917-154527.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Phimeanakas is not as famous as Angkor Wat (\u17a2\u1784\u17d2\u1782\u179a\u179c\u178f\u17d2\u178f), it was deemed as the archetype of Angkor Wat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/cambodia_2011\/0917-155124.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/cambodia_2011\/0917-155503.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a large pond next to Phimeanakas, the most well preserved remains from the royal palace.
