Pujindu was one of the biggest ferry crossings of Yellow River (\u9ec3\u6cb3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110417-0146.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110417-0168.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1989, archaeologists excavated 4 iron bull statues and 4 iron man statues which could be dated back to the Tang Dynasty (724AD), one of the biggest archaeological discoveries in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110417-0171.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110417-0162.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The 4 iron bull statues are almost the same sizes, but in different postures, each statue weighs around 30 tons, the biggest iron relics discovered in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110417-0165.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110417-0164.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of Yuan (\u5143) dynasty (late 14th century), Pujindu was abandoned and those iron bull statues were submerged by the mud and water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110417-0161.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110417-0174.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The 4 iron bull statues were used to fix the pontoon bridge across the Yellow River, since bull was deemed as \u2018earth (\u571f)\u2019 in five elements (\u4e94\u884c) in Chinese philosophy, which can subdue the element \u2018water (\u6c34)\u2019, people thought that the statues can stop the flood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110417-0159.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110417-0178.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It is said that there\u2019s used to be 8 iron bull statues, but now only 4 have been found, the other 4 are still unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110417-0184.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/shaanxi_2011\/20110417-0188.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/china_taiwan\/travel_shaanxi_11_00.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Loess &amp; Yellow River 2011 (Chinese only)<\/a><\/h4>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pujindu (Chinese: \u84b2\u6d25\u6e21) Historical Site is located in Yongji (\u6c38\u6fdf),  a county-level city in the prefecture-level city of Yuncheng, in the southwest of Shanxi (\u5c71\u897f)province, China.
